College Visits and Campus Tour--We Welcome Your Visit

Prospective students and their families were invited to our Campus Tour on August 13, 2016 to see firsthand why the Asia University is the best choice for them. President Tsai extended a warm welcome to prospective students and their families. President Tsai stated that we feel a special pride in our reputation for exceptional faculty and excellent quality of teaching and research. We have proud of achieving great achievements in recent years. The Asia University has grown into a comprehensive university in which teaching and learning in the medical and health science, information and electrical engineering, management, humanities and social sciences, and creative design take place in a dynamic environment. “It is a feature of Asia University to provide internship to allow students’ to gain hands-on experiences, develop professional skills, and pave the way to a successful future career,” said Present Tsai.

 

The Department Chair, Dr. Hung-Yu Lin, also took this opportunity to welcome the prospective students and their families to visit our department. Occupational Therapy is a profession that help people of all ages do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities or occupation, according to the American Occupational Therapy Association. “Occupational Therapy is one of fastest growing professions of the decade and US News listed occupational therapy a best career”, said Chair Dr. Lin. The Department of the Occupational Therapy offers a 128-credit spans throughout the curriculum to support students’ academic excellence and professional development as well as foster growth of clinical skills. “Our program is comprehensive and extensive”, said Chair Dr. Lin. The professional phase of program spans three years of full-time professional academic courses and one full-year of fieldwork training. “We prepare our students for successful careers as licensed occupational therapist and to practice competently in the rapidly changing health care environment”, said Chair Dr. Lin.

 

Assistant Professor, Dr. Ya-Chen Lee, also mentioned that the curriculum in our program integrates occupational therapy theory, research, and practice, and is designed to meet national standards and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists of practice. The curriculum covers major area of occupational therapy in physical dysfunction, mental health, and children across the care continuum to fully prepare students for fieldwork. Students in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Asia University benefit from diverse fieldwork experience not only at nationally renowned medical institutions but also community-based rehabilitation. “The mission of our program is to prepare critical thinking, creative, skilled, and ethical occupational therapists”, said Dr. Lee.
